Obituary for Denis Cyril Curtis

January 8, 1947 - December 28, 2020 Denis Cyril Curtis died peacefully with his wife at his side at Belleville General Hospital on December 28, 2020, at the age of 73.

Denis had lived well and optimistically with cancer for eleven years, succumbing only when all available treatment options were exhausted.

Denis was born on January 8, 1947 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, UK. He served an engineering apprenticeship and graduated in 1970 with a Full Technological Certificate from the City and Guilds of London. Denis emigrated to Toronto in 1970, and moved to Vancouver where he met the love of his life, Lindi Pierce, in 1976. The couple celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on October 6, 2020.

Denis was the founder and president of CMR Racing Products of Trenton, a niche engineering firm catering to vintage and historic motorcycle racing. He is remembered with respect by many friends and associates from around the world.

Denis is survived by a cherished sister, Trish (Peter) of Gloucester, England, his dear brother Chris (Ann) of Dorset, England, nieces Nicola, Victoria and Tina and their grown children, and brother-in law Eric Pierce and sister-in-law Jocelyne Cormier of Prince Edward County.

No memorial service is planned. The family will gather in spring for the interment of Denis’ ashes at the Pierce family plot in Cherry Valley Cemetery.

Those wishing to remember Denis might consider a donation to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, VON Belleville, or to the small local theatres he loved, River and Main Theater Company of Belleville or the Old Church, Trenton.

Lindi would like to thank the compassionate professional staff at BGH – doctors, nurses and personal support workers - who cared for Denis during his final weeks, and all of those who extended condolences.

Arrangements entrusted to the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main St., Picton, ON.
